Superdrug Beat The Buffer
Superdrug came to us with the task of creating an ad campaign for their online doctor which would centre around promoting one specific product – Viagra Connect.
Beat the Buffer is a creative approach that we devised, in partnership with multiple divisions across the Superdrug and ZAVA teams.
Superdrug’s online delivery and ED medication share qualities, they are both effective and fast. We came up with a creative tool that something fast and effective could overcome – the buffering wheel.
We wrote two hero scripts, one with a heterosexual couple and one featuring a homosexual couple.
To bring the feeling of being stuck behind a buffer wheel life we used dynamic freeze-frame photography so that we could freeze in the room with all of our characters but also move around it.
The buffering wheel was a custom-built VFX element that had responsive light qualities so that it could fit real-time into the environment.
